About the role
This position performs a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and controls design work to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems. The ideal candidate will support the design and development of modular buildings and data center infrastructure while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and fabrication teams.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Design for Capital Projects.
- Create client issue drawings and detailed fabrication drawings using Revit.
- Develop electrical Revit families and custom electrical components.
- Prepare single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, interconnection schedules, and panel schedules.
- Design and coordinate MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, PDUs, CDUs, PLC systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Support Engineering and Construction Contractors on an as-needed basis.
- Support Operations and Maintenance as a technical resource when needed.
- Understand and apply industry codes that apply to an industrial manufacturer.
- Provides instrumentation and controls design support to all phases of project design, execution, installation, commissioning, and operation.
- Maintains and applies company instrumentation design criteria and specifications as well as industry-recognized standards.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrumentation-related issues including electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems.
- Assists in factory acceptance testing and field inspections.
- Responsible for creating, updating, and drafting design documents including but not limited to loop sheets, motor schematics, panel schedules, I/O cabinets, and one-lines.

Requirements
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent science degree.
- 5+ years of related experience in a Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
- 5+ years of Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls installation experience.
- Advanced knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.).
- Will be known across the organization for their expertise, strategic vision, and enterprise perspective.
- Creates solutions to complex, non-routine problems.
- Provides recommendations to management within business/functional team.
Work Environment
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- Position may require visits to the onsite prefabrication shop, construction site, or jobsite assignments.
Physical Demands
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Travel
May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military experience.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial/industrial, MEP, and/or modular construction projects.
