Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the development, testing, certification, and ongoing improvement of power distribution and power protection equipment. This hands-on engineering role focuses on electrical design, component selection, troubleshooting, documentation, and product integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems at the product level, including component selection, thermal system design, mechanical packaging concepts, and interconnection hardware selection/design
- Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, magnetics, and thermal engineering
- Develop engineering and technical design specifications for power protection systems
- Design switchboard power and control circuits
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and schematics
- Support the qualification and integration of third-party devices into power distribution equipment
- Participate in hardware design reviews to evaluate product robustness and performance
- Contribute to customer and manufacturing documentation, test procedures, and technical reports
- Provide sustaining engineering support for both newly launched and legacy power protection systems
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems and subsystems
- Support product safety certifications with NRTL organizations and applicable UL, CSA, and IEC standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software
- Experience designing power distribution solutions such as: PDUSTRSPP Switchboards
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with basic electrical engineering laboratory equipment, including: Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal generators, Other standard EE test equipment
- Experience with three-phase electrical systems and electrical power systems
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and verbal communication skills
- Strong laboratory, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
