Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the development, testing, certification, and ongoing improvement of power distribution and power protection equipment. This hands-on engineering role focuses on electrical design, component selection, troubleshooting, documentation, and product integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems at the product level, including component selection, thermal system design, mechanical packaging concepts, and interconnection hardware selection/design
  • Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, magnetics, and thermal engineering
  • Develop engineering and technical design specifications for power protection systems
  • Design switchboard power and control circuits
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and schematics
  • Support the qualification and integration of third-party devices into power distribution equipment
  • Participate in hardware design reviews to evaluate product robustness and performance
  • Contribute to customer and manufacturing documentation, test procedures, and technical reports
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for both newly launched and legacy power protection systems
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems and subsystems
  • Support product safety certifications with NRTL organizations and applicable UL, CSA, and IEC standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software
  • Experience designing power distribution solutions such as: PDUSTRSPP Switchboards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with basic electrical engineering laboratory equipment, including: Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal generators, Other standard EE test equipment
  • Experience with three-phase electrical systems and electrical power systems
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong laboratory, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
