About the role
The Electrical Design Engineer designs low and medium voltage power systems and serves as the primary technical interface for assigned equipment.
Responsibilities
- Create bill of material and drawing packages for manufacture for equipment of moderate complexity.
- Independently perform design, troubleshooting, and commissioning to support IEM equipment.
- Support production during manufacturing and testing by addressing technical inquiries.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers to layout and create front/plan views of switchgear and switchboards.
- Select components and create detailed bills of materials for products.
- Write sequence of operation documents to define automatic system functionality.
- Work with test and field service teams to verify system operation aligns with design and written sequences.
- Support equipment demonstrations in the factory, providing hands-on technical expertise for factory witness tests.
- Perform design tasks to support IEM’s products and achieve customer goals.
- Independently support sales and project management teams in answering customer design-related questions.
- Complete short field assignments for troubleshooting, design consultation, customer meetings, or engineering support (generally less than 5 days at a time and not exceeding 15% of total time).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles and applications in the power industry, including codes, standards, and design practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD for electrical design.
- Understanding of mechanical layout and considerations.
- Task management skills to carry out concurrent tasks to completion.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact directly with customers, sales, technical resources, and management.
- Technical writing skills.
- Strong organization skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
- Pride in workmanship and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Previous field service experience is a plus.
- Industrial automation experience is a plus.
Pay
Salary ranges for this role are based on location, experience, and qualifications:
- Level I: $76,800–$86,400
- Level II: $82,560–$96,000
