Electrical Controls Technician
About the role
Build, troubleshoot, and keep the systems running. Stark State College is looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Technician to become the technical expert behind the electrical, controls, and building automation systems that keep our campus safe, comfortable, efficient, and operational. This is a hands-on troubleshooting role for someone who enjoys figuring out why a system isn't working, finding the root cause, and fixing it—not simply maintaining equipment according to a checklist. You'll work with electrical distribution, Automated Logic Building Automation Systems (BAS), WebCTRL, HVAC controls, instrumentation, fire protection systems, low-voltage systems, and a variety of mechanical and facility equipment. If you're currently an industrial maintenance technician, controls technician, BAS technician, commercial electrician, facilities technician, HVAC controls technician, or electro-mechanical technician and enjoy working across multiple systems, we'd like to meet you. The primary work location for this position will be the College’s main campus; however, the employee may be assigned to and work at various Stark State College campus locations based on departmental and operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Program, monitor, troubleshoot, modify, and optimize Stark State's Automated Logic BAS and WebCTRL platform.
- Diagnose complex electrical, controls, automation, HVAC, and facility-system problems and determine the root cause.
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems, control panels, lighting, instrumentation, wiring, and low-voltage systems.
- Troubleshoot fire alarm systems, electronic safety devices, sensors, actuators, and related controls.
- Work with HVAC equipment and controls to improve building comfort
