Electrical Controls Technician - 1st shift - Food Manufacturing

Primary Responsibilities

  • Electrical design: Maintain, repair and adjust electrical equipment including circuity, manual and electrical controls, motors inter-locking systems, heating controls, sensing devices DC and AC drives
  • Aid in the installation of electrical for all new equipment
  • Document and maintain electrical modifications to equipment in schematic drawings
  • Proficient with all machines drives such as Digital, Servos, Analog and VFD’s, Computers and PLC’s
  • New machine controls and control upgrades project management and research
  • Manage electrical contractors’ installation for projects
  • PLC Programming (Using Software Package): Draft new programs, revise existing programs, revise existing screens, maintain program archives (revision tracking), documentation
  • Design and update systems to automate processes
  • Maintain and update software to match the latest machine installs
  • Maintain and manage independent IIOT (plant floor) network, servers, and routers
  • HMI Programming (Using Software Package): Draft new screens, maintain program archives (revision tracking), documentation
  • Maintain SCADA network and related computer equipment
  • Maintenance Support: Provide after-hours tech support, Troubleshooting: Rockwell automation, Compact Logics and SLC, networking switches, Part testing, Remote desktop into control network (PLC)
  • Select and order parts, Fill in when short handed, Input information into the maintenance management systems and keep documents and records complete, Manage the electrical portion of the preventative maintenance program
  • Work on HVAC controls, Maintain servers used for control system, Maintain communication network running over TCP/IP, Maintain and track IP device map, Operator training, Develop prototypes to add to, improve or change existing equipment, Calibrate equipment, Ongoing SGFM inter-structure documentation, Wiring and installation, Analyze plant processes and continuously work to improve efficiencies, Use standard manufacturing practices (Lean, Root Cause Analysis and Kepner Tregoe) to identify root causes of issues and work to resolve them, Maintain electrical AutoCAD files and draft when necessary, Develop controls solutions to enhance processes, Work with engineering on designing new processes and projects to maintain consistency with existing processes and network, Maintain and manage Plex/Mach 2 downtime tracking software, Maintain and manage user database for Plex/Mach 2 downtime tracking software, Manage user database of Retort software, Conduct Coaching sessions with Staff/Maintenance when necessary.

Requirements

  • Necessary to Perform This Job Function: (Educational & Physical)
  • High School Diploma
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as an Electronic Tech or equivalent electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have electrical education, training, and experience
  • Must have ability troubleshoot in Rockwell automation including Allen-Bradley, Compact Logics and SLC
  • Must have previous experience working with PLC & HMI
  • Proficient in Computer use to include Microsoft Suite Software to include Excel Spreadsheets
  • Excellent problem-solving skills a must
  • Flexibility with work assignments and hours
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to reach, lift bend knees, stoop, climb and push or pull items weighing 50 lbs. or more
  • Ability to travel in plane, train or car if necessary
