Electrical & Controls Engineer

About the role

BCA Mpac Group is a company based in Newburyport, Massachusetts, dedicated to redefining automation in food & beverage, life sciences, and manufacturing sectors. The company is currently experiencing rapid growth and is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation and control systems
• Create and document process sequences, IO mapping, and system specifications
• Program and configure PLCs (preferably Rockwell), HMIs, motion systems, robotics with line tracking, and machine vision systems (Cognex, Fanuc, Keyence)
• Lead and support Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure flawless performance
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for continuous improvement
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in controls/automation engineering
• Strong PLC programming skills (preferably Rockwell)
• Solid understanding of safety standards and risk assessments

Qualifications

• An analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities
• Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
• A strong communicator with stakeholder-facing confidence
• Able to visualize systems from concept to execution

Skills

• OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) experience is a plus
• Background in food & beverage or life sciences automation is a plus

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Approximately 25% travel (including occasional 1-2 week trips).
