Electrical Controls Engineer
About the role
S.G. Morris Co., a subsidiary of Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE: AIT), seeks a Controls Engineer to assist our sales force with technical expertise for the design of fluid power systems and customer system integrations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wiring diagrams and panel layouts using AutoCAD LT
- Understand and apply UL, CE, CSA and NEC standards
- Develop control schemes and estimate quotes based on customer descriptions
- Select and program appropriate electrical components for various applications
- Create full electrical project schematics and component Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Develop panel layouts ensuring proper wiring isolation
- Program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) using RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000
- Program HMIs using C_More programming software
- Work with the shop to ensure wiring complies with project requirements
- Understand mobile controls and components
- Troubleshoot electrical issues via phone, email, and in-person visits
- Coordinate projects with branch personnel, including sales and shop associates
- Occasionally travel to customer locations
- Provide mechanical assistance as needed
Requirements
- Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical
- Working knowledge of CAD
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Fluid Power Industry experience is a plus
