Electrical Construction Estimator

Responsibilities

  • Review and prioritize incoming bid opportunities to determine which projects are the best fit
  • Download, organize, and prepare project plans and bid documentation
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects
  • Assemble bid packages including labor, material, and equipment pricing
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Review project specifications to ensure bid compliance
  • Attend required pre-bid meetings and project site visits
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior estimators to validate constructability and estimate accuracy
  • Absorb bid reviews, change orders, and post-award project handoffs
  • Cook up bid documentation, registrations, and compliance paperwork
  • Participate in weekly estimating meetings and project selection discussions
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes as responsibilities grow

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of construction estimating experience, preferably in electrical contracting
  • Experience preparing bids using estimating software
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple bid opportunities
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Willingness to learn commercial and industrial electrical estimating practices
  • Experience with Accubid and Bluebeam is highly preferred
  • Experience with prevailing wage or public sector projects is a plus
  • Field electrical experience or prior electrician background is beneficial
