About the role
The role of an Electrical Construction Estimator is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of bids for commercial and industrial projects. This position involves a blend of technical expertise, attention to detail, and collaboration with various stakeholders. The estimator will navigate complex bid documents and specifications, often requiring a thorough understanding of prevailing wage regulations and Army Corps contracts. Candidates should be self-motivated and capable of conducting research to fill knowledge gaps. This position offers an opportunity to work within a supportive and family-oriented culture, contributing to significant projects within a one-hour radius of Robbinsville.
Responsibilities
- Review bid opportunities and attend required pre-bid and site visits
- Conduct full takeoffs and create detailed estimates
- Solicit and qualify vendor quotes, ensuring compliance with specifications
- Prepare bid briefs that detail material, labor, and overhead costs
- Cook with project managers for constructability checks
- Participate in bid reviews, factoring all necessary costs
- Support change orders with client-ready cost breakdowns
- Facilitate post-award handoff to project managers
- Collaborate with office administrators on bid paperwork and registrations
- Attend weekly bidding log meetings to select target projects
Requirements
- Commercial or industrial electrical estimating experience
- Experience with prevailing wage and government contracts
- Able to read and comply with detailed bid documents
- Transparent estimating with documented vendor quotes
- Comfortable with an office-first workflow and cross-functional collaboration
- Capability for local site visits within one hour of Robbinsville
- Accubid proficiency is preferred
- Bluebeam familiarity is preferred
- Prior electrician or field background is preferred
