Responsibilities
- Participate in and support commissioning activities throughout all Commissioning Levels 1–5 of the project scope.
- Support the development and execution of commissioning schedules aligned with project milestones and the critical path.
- Attend and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Review specialist vendor installations, testing procedures, and integration with site power systems.
- Report quality and testing issues accurately and clearly.
- Prepare commissioning documentation and daily progress reports for the Commissioning Project Manager.
- Cookordination testing activities with the site commissioning team.
- Execute electrical system walk-downs and verify installations against drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, applicable codes, and project requirements.
- Document deficiencies and support punch list generation and corrective actions.
- Prepare and execute startup checks, ensuring startup documentation is completed and signed off.
- Participate in Functional Performance Testing (FPT) to verify the operation and integration of electrical systems in accordance with design intent.
- Verify electrical equipment is installed correctly, complies with design documents and owner quality standards, and operates in accordance with the intended sequence of operation.
- Review thermal infrared (IR) scan reports.
- Attend construction and commissioning meetings as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of electrical commissioning experience in data center, mission-critical, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of Data Center Commissioning Levels 1–5.
- Data center experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems in mission-critical facilities, NFPA 70E, and OSHA guidelines surrounding safe construction practices.
- Experience commissioning the following equipment and systems:
- High, Medium, and Low Voltage Power Distribution
- Substations and Switchgear
- Transformers
- Bus Duct and Grounding Installations
- Power Monitoring Systems
- Emergency Power Systems
Skills
- Ability to work proactively as a member of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in mobile technology and commissioning software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Trade Partners, and field personnel.
- Experience organizing technical documentation in a neat and accurate manner.
- Ability to work closely with trade and craft personnel in a field environment while maintaining patience, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate multiple work activities simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate shall have time served electrical journeyman/foreman or diploma or degree in electrical engineering plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
- Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
