Responsibilities
- Aid in the design, analysis, and installation of electrical systems for Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to perform CAD modeling, analysis, and system optimization.
- Operate as a liaison between engineering, drafting, and production teams to resolve technical challenges during construction.
- Identify and resolve non-conformances, lead root cause analysis, and drive resolution via Issue Review Boards (IRBs) and rework plans.
- Lead and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)—ensure traceability, communication, implementation, and verification.
- Support the integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs.
- Provide technical input on system architecture and performance during design reviews.
- Support documentation including technical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and as-built records for internal use, regulatory bodies, and client presentations.
- Manage CAD models to document as-built changes made during ship construction.
- Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and verification of installed systems including continuity checks, megger testing, and functional tests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Systems, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with maritime industry electrical standards including ABS, IEEE 45, ABYC, and US Coast Guard electrical regulations.
- Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering principles including power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, and marine electrical systems.
- Experience working in a shipyard environment or with marine/naval electrical systems.
- Deep familiarity with interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical).
- Experience with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and power quality analyzers.
- Understanding of wire sizing, circuit protection, grounding, bonding, and marine electrical safety practices.
- Strong communication skills across engineers, electricians, technicians, quality teams, and leadership.
- Comfortable working in an industrial shipyard environment with hands-on electrical troubleshooting.
