Electrical Associate Engineering Technician - Power Generation Modeler
About the role
This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and building critical infrastructure for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design, including duct bank modeling, cable tray modeling, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems supporting advanced power generation facilities.
Responsibilities
- Supports engineering teams under general supervision
- Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
- Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
- Stays current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures
- Applies knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
- Uses and expands applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
- Creates and develops project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
- Performs basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
- Collaborates with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
- Supports internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
- Proactively seeks out, shares, and applies knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate required
- Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
- Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience
