Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain Smart Grid communication systems, including fiber optic and cellular technologies.
- Aid in installing and maintaining protective relay components on field devices.
- Perform functional and startup testing for new distribution system additions.
- Maintain and service SCADA-controlled and monitored equipment.
- Aid in troubleshooting Smart Grid equipment and communication systems.
- Support DNP mapping and integration with SCADA, OMS, and DMS platforms.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and system documentation.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A degree or technical certification in Electrical/Electronic Technology or a related field and 2 years of specialized experience in protective relay installation, maintenance, repair, or testing.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of specialized experience in protective relay installation, maintenance, repair, or testing.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of electrical theory and utility construction and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, communication protocols, and networking concepts.
- Experience with calibration, instrumentation, and testing equipment.
- Familiarity with SEL protective relays and communication devices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships.
Additional Requirements
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License required.
- Functional Employment Test (FET) required.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
