eLearning Developer I

About the role

The Learning Resource Network (LRN) Learning and Development eLearning Developer I performs complex instructional design and eLearning development work under the direction of the Learning and Development Director. Work involves designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining instructor-led and eLearning curricula and instructional design technology, including content creation, video production, simulations, demonstrations, gamification, animation, and other instructor-led and eLearning outputs.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and delivers instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, hybrid and eLearning courses, using ADDIE or Dick and Carey's Instructional System Design Model, related to HHS required training, HR policy training, legislatively mandated training, administrative training, HHS system training, professional development training, and audit training.
• Develops customized instructional materials including instructor guides, participant guides, presentations, videos, job aids and interactive learning activites.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts, business owners, stakeholders, and team members to develop accessible, engaging, plain-language learning materials that align with adult learning principles, HHS branding standards, and applicable accessibility requirements.
• Uses instructional design models, eLearning tools, and learning technologies to support course development from project planning through deployment.
• Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience in both instructor-led development and eLearning development for managers and employees in a large organization.
• Three (3) years of experience developing accessible instructor-led and eLearning courses.
• Three (3) years of experience developing instructor-led and eLearning assets, in in-person and virtual environments, including videos, simulations, and interactive learning activities.
• Three (3) years of experience using eLearning software and instructor-led development templates.

Qualifications

• Instructional design certification preferred.
• Knowledge of modern adult learning principles, current and emerging eLearning trends, and creating content on all learning levels.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards.
• Knowledge of Instructor-led and eLearning software tools (Articulate, Captivate, Lectora, etc.) and Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Cornerstone, etc.).
• Ability to complete priority projects and meet competing deadlines.
• Ability to assess training needs.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to eLearning tools, SCORM packages, and Learning Management System course deployment.
• Ability to communicate complex information in plain language and write with a readability score of 8th grade level or below.
• Ability to follow HHS Brand Guide and agency standards.

Skills

• Instructional design methods such as ADDIE and Dick and Carey's Instructional System Design.
• Knowledge of Chapman Alliance on eLearning levels.
• Graphic design techniques and content creation.
• Creating learning design models.
• Gathering content information from subject matter experts, business owners, and stakeholders.
• Developing courses that meet agency standards and applicable legal requirements.
• Communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
• Developing microlearning, gamification, animations, simulations, videos, podcasts, audio files, eLearning courses, and demonstrations.
