About the role

The Front Office Receptionist helps create a welcoming environment for the front office and the rest of the school. This includes clear and positive communication with students, staff, parents, and other visitors as well as management of the office in collaboration with other office staff.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greets and assists students, staff and visitors
  • Maintains office security by locking and unlocking the main office
  • Signs in and directs guests to maintain building security
  • Answers and transfers phone calls
  • Communicates with ELC and Aftercare staff regarding student pickup and dismissal changes
  • Maintains a neat, organized, and efficient office
  • Stores and distributes prescription and over-the-counter medications to students
  • Corresponds with maintenance personnel regarding building issues
  • Serves as a responder for injuries or crises
  • Other duties as assigned by the building administrative team

Requirements

  • Possesses a genuine love for and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, the cause of Christian education, and the work of Grand Rapids Christian High School and Grand Rapids Christian Schools
  • Creates and maintains a positive atmosphere in the office
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude with parents, staff, and administration
  • Has appreciation for and works well with constituents of diverse backgrounds
  • Possesses outstanding secretarial, computer, and managerial skills
  • Communicates effectively both in writing and orally with an excellent knowledge of the English language, grammar, and spelling
  • Handles confidential information appropriately
  • Works well with others and flexibly deals with diverse perspectives, interruptions, frustrations, and emergencies
  • Demonstrates initiative, uses time wisely, plans and organizes effectively
  • Possesses proficiency/confidence in software programs such as Google Apps, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications
  • Develops proficiency in Synergy, finding student information and schedules as needed

Qualifications

The Receptionist should be a Disciple of Christ, Culturally Competent Professional, Thoughtful Neighbor, Justice Seeker, Creative Solution Finder, Lifelong Explorer, Communicator, and Collaborator.

Schedule

Part-Time, Full Year (15–20 hours per week); 2:30–5:30 p.m.
