Description

The LONG Security Technician role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various security systems in commercial, industrial, government, and corrections environments. This role requires independent work on routine tasks and collaboration on more complex projects. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, ensuring systems operate efficiently, and addressing technical concerns.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain security systems including access control, video management, intrusion detection, IP intercom, nurse call, and mass communication systems.
• Accurately document completed work and submit time entries daily through relevant software.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections, including cleaning, replacing parts, updating software, and optimizing systems to prevent failures.
• Inspect for physical damage, wear, and signs of degradation.
• Communicate effectively with customers, addressing inquiries, providing technical guidance, and resolving issues.
• Educate system users on proper operation and maintenance of products and systems.
• Advise customers on necessary replacements or critical repairs for maintaining equipment functionality.
• Troubleshoot IP networks to ensure ongoing system performance.
• Proficient in installing and servicing electronic door hardware.
• Responsible for maintaining and repairing IP based Camera systems, Access Controls, Paging, Digital Intercom Systems.
• Train to maintain HMI and PLC based control systems, LAN and WAN Networks.
• Attend construction meetings as required for projects.
• Assist in developing quotes, including time and materials estimates, for small projects or system upgrades.
• Provide input for updating drawings and maintaining equipment records, including submitting redlined documents to application engineers for as-built documentation.
• On-call work and out of state travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree OR 2 years related experience with IP based networking or electronic security systems required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Electronic principles such as AC/DC theory, Ohms Law, ability to read and understand a digital Volt/Ohm meter.
• Proficient in Access Controls, Life Safety , PLC/HMI, NVR’s IP-based Camea Systems, Cloud Based Camera Systems, Paging, Digital/analog Intecom System, Data backbone cabling systems and network switches.
• Proficient in MS suite, Bluebeam.
• Strong aptitude for using hand and power tools, with a self-motivated drive to learn and expand knowledge across various systems.
• Excellent analytical skills for resolving software and system integration issues.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks independently, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to legally operate a company vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Genetec, Valerus/Vicon, DMP, Axis, Bosch, GE CIMPLICITY, Harding DXI/DXL, Avigilon, Lenel, HID, Cisco, Aruba.
• Relevant certifications in security systems (e.g, BICSI) preferred.
