About the Role

The EHSS Regional Manager is the environmental, health, safety, and sustainability liaison to the regionally assigned Holcim Building Envelope manufacturing and distribution sites. This position is responsible for ensuring that the locations have effective policies, procedures, plans, systems, business practices, standards, and controls in place to identify, assess, monitor, and manage EHSS risks and opportunities to comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. The EHSS Regional Manager ensures these policies and standards are aligned with Holcim Building Products, communicated, and institutionalized throughout the region, and monitors the region’s compliance. This role requires initiative, decision-making, and adaptability to changing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Administer comprehensive OSHA and EPA Compliance Programs through Management Leadership, Teammate Involvement, Worksite Analysis, Hazard Prevention and Control, and Environmental Health and Safety Training.
  • Model behaviors consistent with a target of zero incidents and 100% environmental compliance.
  • Engage, communicate, and influence others to develop a culture of safety, sustainability, environmental excellence, impact reduction, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor EHSS policies, practices, and processes for efficiency and effectiveness, recommending improvements.
  • Drive operational implementation of EHSS strategies to build a culture of compliance, performance, and reputation.
  • Maintain systems for identifying, reporting, investigating, tracking, and trending EHS incidents, ensuring countermeasures are implemented.
  • Implement EHSS audit processes to assess compliance, identify deficiencies, and collaborate on action plans.
  • Serve as EHSS Subject Matter Expert and coach others.
  • Direct EHSS emergency response activities.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory matters (OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, EPA) and oversee compliance inspections.
  • Prepare and submit environmental regulatory reports.
  • Report monthly EHSS metrics to Corporate.
  • Develop local EHSS written programs, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensure implementation of the people security program.
  • Promote and support the Line-Driven Safety Process.
  • Coordinate with Communication and Legal departments on stakeholder and public messaging.
  • Assist facilities with ISO 14001 implementation by monitoring metrics, coordinating audits, and meeting targets.
  • Support continuous improvement and automation activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/University Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or Related Technical Discipline.
  • 8+ years of environmental, safety, and health experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Sound business judgment and understanding of legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • High energy level and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 certification program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's/Graduate degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or Related Technical Discipline.
  • EHS&S related licenses, certifications (Certified Safety Professional), and/or membership in EHS&S professional associations.

Additional Requirements

  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators.
  • Ability to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests for respirators (clean-shaven where the seal meets the face).

Working Conditions

  • 30% to 50% travel required.
  • Flexible hours with minimum notification when necessary.

Physical Conditions

  • Ability to speak and present in front of large groups.
  • No fear of heights; ability to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about in various environments.
  • Regularly operates a computer, accessories, and phone equipment.
  • Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and drive/sit for long distances and periods.
  • Ability to hear at normal speaking levels.
