Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with accident/incident investigations.
- Maintain files and records pertaining to environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene.
- Absorb with the plant safety committee.
- Absorb with management, supervisors, and training technicians in preparing a variety of EHS presentations.
- Keep informed on current environmental, health, and safety regulations and legislation, and recommend policy changes.
- Conduct frequent EHS tours/audits of all plant areas and make recommendations for corrective actions for environmental, safety, and health concerns.
- Review the installation and modification of all equipment and processes for EHS issues.
- Maintain the plant fire protection system.
- Absorb with maintaining the plant EH&S database.
- Absorb with managing the hazardous waste program, including pickups, disposals, and preparing shipments.
- Conduct a variety of EHS training programs, including Lockout/Tagout and environmental training.
- Monitor contractor compliance with applicable EHS laws and standards.
- Complete various environmental reports in a timely manner.
- Support a variety of environmental projects.
- Absorb with improving the plant's recycling efforts.
- Absorb with activities aimed at maintaining compliance with the plant's environmental permits.
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations and assessments.
Major Responsibilities
- Interface with department managers and supervisors to reduce accidents, injuries, and property damage throughout the plant.
- Protect the environment while ensuring compliance with environmental permits and applicable regulations.
- Work with Division EHS to maintain an active Environmental, Health & Safety program.
- Maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all contractors, visitors, and contract employees entering the client site.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2 - 3 years of work experience with Abbott or 2 - 3 years of experience in the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) field.
- A background with a Fire Department or Rescue Squad preferred for technicians focused on the safety area.
- Experience with Spreadsheets and Algebra preferred.
- Adept at using a computer.
