Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental protection, hazardous waste management, and spill prevention.
  • Adhere to BASF's internal standards, such as Responsible Care®.
  • Enhance site programs to maintain the license to operate while fostering a culture of safety and compliance among all personnel.
  • Lead site security initiatives, identifying and mitigating security risks to uphold and optimize security standards.
  • Collaborate with the site manager and contribute to the overall success of the Malcom site.
  • Work closely with the EHS Director for Performance Materials North America to contribute to the BASF EHS community.
  • Leverage effective communication skills to develop strong working relationships with employees, the EHS community, and regulatory agencies/third parties.
  • Develop and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures for the site.
  • Lead and participate in risk assessments, accurately addressing identified deficiencies.
  • Provide guidance on critical EHS issues, ensuring adherence to corporate EHS policies and procedures, including the Responsible Care® Management Systems.
  • Create training content and deliver training or coaching, facilitating the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and best practices across the BASF EHS organization.
  • Prioritize opportunities and issues to drive the continuous improvement of EHS processes and systems.
  • Identify and monitor key performance indicators within your area of responsibility, making necessary adjustments to improve EHS performance.
  • Lead and participate in project reviews, process hazard analyses, and change management processes, ensuring all internal and external reporting requirements are met.
  • Lead and/or participate in EHS work teams and/or task forces.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently under broad goals and objectives with minimal guidance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Environmental Reporting and Safety Management Systems strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental management, and Emergency Response program management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to identify and monitor key performance indicators within your area of responsibility.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills to lead and participate in project reviews, process hazard analyses, and change management processes.
  • Ability to work independently under broad goals and objectives with minimal guidance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Environmental Reporting and Safety Management Systems strongly preferred.
