EHS Specialist I

Support Warren Equipment Company’s goals by meeting internal and external expectations in environmental health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Support EHS and Risk Management departments by conducting incident investigations, inspections and/or audits to identify hazards in compliance with all city, state, federal, and company health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and company health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Administer and communicate company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct “root cause analysis” of safety incidents; document and report findings of investigations, inspections, and audits, and facilitate incident calls.
• Assist with the development of short-term and long-term strategies, goals, and action plans.
• Maintain awareness of latest trends, policies, regulations, and best practices in safety and health.
• Assist with implementation of new health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain, track, and archive safety corrective plans resulting from EHS investigations and audits.
• Provide safety training to employees to meet regulatory, company, and customer requirements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all employee information.
• Assist with special projects.

Requirements

• Associate’s (A.A.) or equivalent degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field from a two-year college or technical school; OR six months to five years of safety-related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
• Prefer EHS background and intermediate knowledge in multiple areas of EHS compliance skill sets (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, DOT, EPA, etc.).
• CSP or CSHO certification or other equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrate an understanding and application of city, federal, state, and company health and safety policies, procedures, regulations, and training.
• Demonstrate an understanding and application of operational processes and procedures.
• Ability to recognize and mitigate situations requiring special attention.
• Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate relevant safety topics across the organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar software.

Schedule

• Required travel up to 30%.
