About the role
The EHS Specialist position at Stanley Black & Decker is a critical role within the Environmental Health & Safety team, focusing on maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in a manufacturing setting. This role involves various responsibilities such as managing employee health programs, coordinating with safety consultants, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work with the workers' compensation provider to assist with the administration of WC claims process.
- Provide industrial athletic and ergonomic training.
- Manage and administer employee health programs and health testing.
- Ensure the plant’s compliance with State and Federal regulations and procedures concerning environment, health, and safety.
- Coordinate and facilitate the activities of EH&S Committees and Staff.
- Conduct individual and group training sessions on Environmental/Safety for all employees to upgrade and/or develop new skills.
- Works with safety consultants, vendors, and other technical, educational, and governmental agencies to secure educational support and resource personnel needed for approved compliance programs, i.e., State & Federal Safety/Environmental, EH&S Guidelines.
- Participate in root cause analysis and recommend changes & improvements.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis and other EHS projects/initiatives.
- Ensure compliance, follow up, and close out to internal and external audits as it relates to EHS.
- Maintain relevant EHS logs and KPI reports monthly or as needed. Including reports on Energy, waste, and water data.
- Measure the effectiveness of safety/environmental courses to ensure training is being utilized on the job.
- Administer safety incident reporting program and EH&S audit/self-inspection program.
- Responsible for preparing reports related to EH&S performance and communicating with management.
Requirements
- A bachelor's, or certifications in a related field of study is required.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in EHS capacity.
- Certified in 1st Aid, CPR & AED.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal, State & Local Environmental Health & Safety/OSHA Regulations.
- Ability to develop, implement, and measure safety training and effectiveness.
- Ability to work with Computers—proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Smartsheet.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding information pertaining to personnel issues and records.
- Must have demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
