Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate/Supervise all site EHS programs, including hazardous waste, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, stormwater, air permitting, fire safety, and emergency response.
- Conduct incident investigations including near miss events, compliance issues, work-related injuries and/or illnesses.
- Utilize data from OSHA 300 Logs, Workers’ Compensation trends, and industry best practices to identify trends and implement new strategies to reduce incidents site-wide.
- Manage site's Ergonomics Program, act as primary liaison to employees, and develop new techniques to address ergonomic concerns.
- Provide training and guidance on all EHS Training Programs, including IIPP, Hazard Communication, Blood Born Pathogens, Powered Industrial Trucks, Fall Protection, and Emergency Response.
- Develop and approve procedures and work instructions as necessary, and coordinate annual updates to chemical inventory and SDS files.
- Manage the sites Hazardous Waste Program and general recycling Programs, seeking out green alternatives to disposal.
- Chair the Safety Committee (in the absence of the EHS Manager) and ensure the continuation of corporate EHS initiatives.
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, coordinate communications with Safety Committee members, and conduct regulatory evaluations.
- Write reports as required and report activities to the EHS Manager.
- Develop and assist in preparing annual site EHS budgetary information.
- Maintain applicable site permits, including stormwater, HMBP, air quality, Hazardous Waste, and others, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate monthly site inspections of all departments, document findings, and follow up with the EHS Manager.
- Manage the Bloodborne Pathogen Program, including coordinating the Hepatitis B vaccine and Tetanus vaccine programs and all training requirements.
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations applicable to operations, including Federal OSHA, EPA, and California Health and Safety Code.
- Conduct periodic departmental safety inspections and ensure corrective action for identified hazards.
- Participate as a standing member of the Safety Committee.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required, safety or a related discipline strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, or biotech or medical device manufacturing environment with safety and/or environmental responsibilities.
- Prior experience problem-solving ergonomic safety concerns and conducting ergonomic evaluations in different work settings (office, warehouse, materials handling).
- Experience managing hazardous waste programs strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with DHS, OSHA, EPA, RCRA, Air Quality, and Water Pollution regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work and establish priorities.
