EHS Specialist

Job Summary

The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology, and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world. We are seeking a motivated Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our environmental, health, and safety programs.

What You Will Do

• Support daily administration of company EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
• Aid in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations.
• Participate in workplace inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and document findings and corrective actions.
• Track and maintain EHS records, training documentation, permits, and reports.
• Support employee EHS training and onboarding activities.
• Assist with industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and environmental monitoring activities as needed.
• Promote safe work practices through partnerships with supervisors, employees, and cross-functional teams.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS performance and awareness.
• Support emergency preparedness activities and response planning.
• Afford assistance with waste management, hazardous material handling, and sustainability initiatives in accordance with company requirements.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
• Internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to environmental, health, and safety.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing, industrial, or shipboard-support environment.
• Ability to learn and apply regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
• Professional certifications or progress toward certifications such as OSHA 30, ASP, or CHST are a plus.
