EHS Specialist
About the role
The EHS Specialist will identify, evaluate, and analyze work environments to create and manage programs and procedures that eliminate or control workplace hazards while building a proactive safety culture. They will conduct and drive safety training, audits, policies, procedures, and safety culture initiatives for front-line leadership and line staff.
Responsibilities
- Identify hazardous conditions and practices.
- Conduct and drive safety training, audits, policies, procedures, and safety culture initiatives for front-line leadership and line staff.
- Monitor personal protective equipment use in workplaces to ensure compliance with regulations and expectations.
- Communicate with workers and front-line supervision to drive a proactive safety culture through positive behavior recognition, while using key safety tools to improve site safety awareness, culture, and communications.
- Investigate safety incidents, make corrective action recommendations, and analyze data to prepare reports for Health and Safety Metrics.
- Develop and enforce a plan to eliminate hazards, conduct training sessions for management, supervisors, and workers on health and safety practices and regulations.
- Develop and implement occupational health and safety systems, including policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Document safety inspections, cite dangerous areas/procedures, and recommend corrective procedures.
- Recognize and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health and safety.
- Maintain a consistent and good attendance record in accordance with Company policy.
- Maintain positive customer and employee relations.
- Support and manage the Case Management of occupational injuries.
- Report to management on the status of occupational health and safety programs.
- Travel regularly to support safety initiatives across the regional node and business needs.
Requirements
Team member must be able to work in a team-oriented and safety-conscious environment. Must have a college degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management or a similar field and complete an OSHA 30-hour Contractor Safety Course or OSHA 30-hour General Industry Safety Course. Minimum of three years’ experience in the industrial maintenance, distribution, manufacturing, or construction fields is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is necessary.
Qualifications
Education: College degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management or similar field. Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in the industrial maintenance, distribution, manufacturing, or construction fields. Skills: Proficiency in creating and working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Competitive pay, generally ranging from $80,750.00 to $95,000.00, depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, total hours worked, job type, business line, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
