EHS Specialist
EHS Specialist is responsible for managing environmental, health, and safety activities and providing technical guidance to improve workplace safety conditions and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Cook up environmental, health, and safety activities through strong leadership and communication.
- Coordinate and provide environmental health and safety training for team members.
- Conduct new hire orientation and provide environmental health safety training.
- Investigate work related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist in the development of effective health and safety countermeasures to continuously improve safety objectives.
- Ensure legislative compliance with Federal, state and local regulations.
- Lead the Safety Team and help to coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues identified by the team.
- Conduct routine safety observation tours, with effective follow-up.
- Cook up emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills.
- Cook up chemical awareness training and monitor on a continuous basis.
- Environmental Responsibilities (as required):
- Ensure all environmental reports are submitted accurately and on time pertaining to areas such as: land; air; water and hazardous waste.
- Manage pollution prevention program according to local regulations.
- Cook up hazardous waste program.
- Cook up recycling efforts of all recyclable scrap.
- Serve as the ISO 14000 Management Representative.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical certifications in related field preferred not required.
- Experience: 3+ years’ experience in related field and/or automotive manufacturing environment.
Skills and Abilities
- Able to understand Environmental and Safety standards.
- Good communication skills including a high level of competency in writing and speaking skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members.
- Good organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, problem solving and teamwork skills.
- Open minded, willing to take responsibility, result oriented.
- Microsoft Office tools experience.
- Demonstrated use of data-based decision making and problem solving.
