Responsibilities
- Performs various physical duties as assigned
- Use proper PPE
- Ship inspections
- Correcting discrepancies
- Training
- Coordination of hazardous waste removal, shipyard hazardous material compliance
- Recordkeeping
- Sample collection
- Industrial hygiene surveys
- Accident investigations
- Provide safety data sheets
- Perform some specialized tasks which may require on-the-job training
- Implement and follow the company's safety, quality, and environmental policies
Qualifications
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Time management skills, minimal supervision, can manage time effectively
- Attentive to detail and alert always to ensure safety
- Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
- Two years of previous experience in EH&S
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Must be knowledgeable in OSHA Maritime Standards
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical/Vocational trade school
- Apprenticeship
- Must be certified HAZWOPER and 10-hour OSHA Maritime Safety
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions
- Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work
- Safety equipment required
- The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical
- Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous
- Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed
Other requirements
- All positions require a pre-employment medical test
- This employer participates in E-Verify
- Must be able to qualify for DBIDS security clearance
- Able to read technical English is a must
- U.S. Citizenship is preferred (for some work locations it is required)
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
