About the role
The Environmental Health and Safety Representative is responsible for programs that protect associates, visitors, and the environment from hazards at the facility. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing environmental and health activities to ensure associate engagement, regulatory compliance and implement the EHS management system to protect human health and the environment.
Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor EHS programs.
- Assure appropriate federal, state, and locally mandated requirements are met including regular inspections and permit requirements.
- Assure mechanisms for assessing and addressing risks or hazards to plant personnel and environment are in place and effective.
- Maintain communications with local emergency-service providers (fire, police, paramedics, etc.).
- Manage the process of preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from, an emergency.
- Analyze safety data trends and recommend corrective strategies to implement.
- Manage corporate-mandated Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experienced in reporting safety incidents and conducting investigations (union experience a plus).
- Proficientcy with internal/external auditing (ISO experience desired).
