Responsibilities

• Apply technical skills in safety, fire, and environmental matters.
• Conduct safety, fire risks, environmental aspects, and ergonomic assessments.
• Define control measures to reduce risks and exposure.
• Manage and lead waste streams and chemical streams.
• Collaborate on requirements for new equipment.
• Work “on-call” for emergencies.
• Enter incidents (safety & environmental) and audit results into the Corporate Health Environmental & Safety System (EHSIS).
• Maintain and track all topics from the YFIMS system – EHS pillar.
• Conduct accident investigations, determine root cause, and assist with resolutions.
• Identify, develop, facilitate, and conduct plant EHS training.
• Lead EHS-related teams (e.g., Cross-Functionality Team, Emergency, First Aid).
• Ensure new equipment meets legal and Yanfeng requirements; participate in acceptance processes.
• Coordinate and teach annual safety and environmental compliance training.
• Evaluate EHS hazards and develop proactive strategies to address inefficiencies.
• Facilitate daily EHS reviews of operations.
• Work with regional workers' compensation claims teams, third-party administrators, and attorneys to manage open claims.
• Serve as the lead contact for outside agencies (e.g., fire departments, OSHA, environmental regulators).
• Ensure contractors are trained and adhere to contractor safety program requirements.
• Schedule annual hearing, pulmonary function exams, and other required exams.
• Manage environmental and safety tasks on the glide path.
• Manage the Hot Work program.
• Coordinate the safety action plan, ensuring continuous implementation and improvement.
• Conduct safety and environmental audits (YFIMS); prepare the plant for corporate audits.
• Respond to environmental incidents and spills, including root-cause investigations and closure activities.
• Lead certification processes for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
• Prepare and implement EHS&E systems and procedures.
• Initiate projects to improve EHS performance.
• Ensure plant compliance with Yanfeng iOS and all environmental, health, and safety laws, including air, water, and waste permits, and YFIMS requirements.
• Conduct EHS&E system audits (leading and lagging KPIs) under the YFIMS – EHS pillar.
• Coordinate the environmental objectives program and ensure year-round implementation.
• Serve as the plant EHS Management Representative (EHS-MR).
• Advise plant management on EHS-related situations.
• Track, analyze, and improve EHS KPIs, near misses, incidents, injuries, and corrective actions (including leading indicators).
• Track and coordinate the Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) program.
• Serve as a lead member of the Plant EHS Committee.
• Assist in accident investigations, ensure proper reporting, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead and update safety, fire, ergonomic, and environmental hazard/impact assessments; define and control corrective measures.
• Actively lead EHS risk assessments.
• Maintain the plant’s first aid facility, provide first aid treatment for on-the-job injuries or illnesses, and maintain records.
• Stay updated on the latest safety procedures and equipment through memberships in professional organizations, seminars, and journals.

Requirements

• Some college education in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or a related field.
