About the role
The EHS Manufacturing Plant Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable operation within the plant. This role oversees OSHA and EPA compliance, maintains permits and documentation, and leads regulatory and internal audits.
Responsibilities
- Monitor operations to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead response, investigation, and root cause analysis of incidents, near misses, or environmental releases occurring during shift; ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Celebrate successes and learn from failures by conducting risk assessments, job hazard analyses, inspections, and incident investigations while ensuring effective corrective actions.
- Drive safety programs across the plant by leading safety orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific training for Coach supervisors and frontline to promote safe work practices.
- Perform regular audits, safety walks, and environmental checks to proactively identify hazards and drive improvements.
- Maintain detailed EHS documentation and submit reports, metrics, and updates to site leadership and corporate EHS teams.
- Champion programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Emergency Preparedness, PPE compliance, and Waste Management.
- Partner with operations leadership to identify and implement safety and environmental improvements, leveraging data and trends from shift operations.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
Requirements
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree or certifications preferred).
- 5 to 7 years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in the use of data management and analysis software tools.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, state regulatory standards, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, EPA and local regulations and reporting.
- Likely CSP / OSHA certification.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills across all levels.
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach.
