About the role

The EHS Professional at Materion assists in the development and deployment of best-in-class Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs, systems, and processes. They work with facility leadership and the EHS Manager to comply with federal, state, and local EHS regulations. They help drive effective, sustainable implementation of corporate and local initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with regulatory authorities with the assistance of the EHS Manager
  • Maintain an effective communication process with the location's operational and maintenance organizations
  • Provide training to facility employees and act as a technical EHS resource for site personnel
  • Support facility leadership with the execution of EHS programs, training, and regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental reports including SARA 312 and SARA 313
  • Conduct audits to ensure EPA, state, and local environmental compliance
  • Participate in incident investigations, develop corrective actions, and enter information into Materion Safety
  • Assist in the implementation of Process Safety Management and ISO 14000 sustainability efforts

Requirements

  • A BS in an EHS field and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent
  • Experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Relevant EPA regulations include: Water permitting, hazardous waste management, compliance assurance and auditing, environmental reporting for water, process safety management, ventilation design, hazardous and solid waste
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with EPA regulations preferred
  • Participates and monitors compliance local, state, and federal programs
  • Makes recommendations to improve the work environment based on interpretations and professional practices
  • Understands compliance requirements for environmental applications
  • Uses complicated environmental and industrial hygiene equipment
  • Proficient in data verification, correlation, and preparation of EHS reports
  • Performs calculations, data entry, data analysis, field monitoring, and report writing
  • Acts as a technical advisor for small projects or less complicated business units
  • Develops and conducts EHS training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology

Skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory authorities
  • Experience with environmental and industrial hygiene equipment
  • Data verification, correlation, and report writing skills
  • Technical advisory and training capabilities
