EHS MANAGER ANACORTES PLANT

About the role
The Manager, Environmental Health and Safety will partner with operations, maintenance, and support staff to plan, develop, implement, update, and administer EHS policies, procedures, programs, and training. This role ensures compliance with all company standards and governmental regulations to protect Trident employees and assets.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Plant Management, Human Resources, and Corporate Safety to deploy and implement the Trident Safety Process and prepare or maintain facilities for OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) accreditation.
- Develop and manage inspection procedures to identify and address areas presenting hazard or risk.
- Establish reporting procedures to track and document inspection findings.
- Evaluate hazardous conditions or practices and develop and implement effective and sustainable hazard control practices and programs.
- Develop and implement training programs covering emergency procedures, environmental compliance, workplace safety, and other areas consistent with governmental regulations and business needs. Maintain training records.
- Ensure safety compliance by overseeing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory shifts and other regulatory-related activities and procedures.
- Establish, track, and deliver workers’ compensation cost reduction and containment practices and procedures.
- Plan and direct safety and industrial hygiene services and monitor third-party administration of the Workers Compensation program.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place and followed during the release of or exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants.
- Maintain documentation for regulatory and company compliance.
- Lead or monitor safety committee meetings and related activities.
- Manage annual Trident Internal Safety audits, Tabletop, and Drill activities.
- Provide support during OSHA, EPA, and any other regulatory audits.
- Define and prioritize site programs to meet the needs of regulatory compliance, risk analysis recommendations, corporate policies, and site-specific procedures and audit findings. Assist plant staff in prioritizing action items to address gaps.
- Oversee safety processes related to the Trident Performance System.
- Identify sources of safety and health risk and develop programs, policies, and procedures. Perform risk analysis/JSA/JHA on job tasks. Maintain Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) program.
- Investigate fatalities, serious injuries, and near misses that occur at company facilities. Review company accident statistics and make recommendations for correction of problem areas.
- Work with HR and local management to resolve personnel and performance issues for dotted-line reports and determine the appropriate course of action.
- Manage a team of EHS staff. Set priorities, complete performance reviews, and provide guidance, direction, coaching, and feedback.
- Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notify designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety or other relevant technical fields (or equivalent combination of education and additional experience).
- A minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibilities in EHS and/or environmental & safety programs in manufacturing, production, or a related industry.
- A minimum of 4 years of supervisory/management experience.
- HAZWOPER certification is required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Occupational Health-Safety and/or accredited professional certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the seafood industry or in a further process operation (batter, breaded, fried).
- Ability to establish and evaluate strategic goals and metrics for measuring success.
- Strong collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interfacing with site management and leading group meetings.
- Results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the Safety and Occupational Health department as well as the overall organization.
- Strong working knowledge of technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Strong knowledge of Federal and State L&I and OSHA regulations, safety practices.
- Working knowledge of all applicable local, regional, and federal requirements.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to:
- Wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
- Outside weather conditions.
- High, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.

Physical Demands

- Move objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Pay
This is a salaried exempt position with an annual salary range of $110,000 to $140,000.
