About the role
Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, is seeking an experienced Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Professional to support and execute EH&S requirements at a multi-campus site in Asheville, NC. This role involves extensive interaction with labor union representatives, management, supervisors, hourly, and salary employees on various projects and teams.
Responsibilities
- Partner with line supervision to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and adherence to P&W procedures and RTX EH&S Standard Practices.
- Support the administration of an EH&S Council, including interfacing with subcommittees, updating performance trends, and tracking EH&S projects to completion.
- Provide technical direction to line management, including council subcommittee teams, for effective execution of goals and objectives.
- Manage Health and Safety programs such as Contractor Safety Management, Elevated Work, Emergency Response, and other Health and Safety Programs.
- Work on cross-functional projects that interface with groups external to and within the core EH&S team.
- Respond to onsite medical incidents and provide spill response/guidance on a rotating schedule.
- Coordinate and conduct specialized Health and/or Safety audits and inspections to monitor performance and assist line management in producing action plans for improvements.
- Conduct trend analysis for inspections/audits, injuries, spills, and near hits, and develop corrective/preventive actions to improve performance.
- Identify opportunities to integrate EH&S programs/activities into overall business operations with a focus on management system integration.
- Participate in pollution prevention and waste reduction initiatives.
- Assist line management with effective investigations and mistake-proofing initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and immediately correcting unsafe conditions or practices to prevent adverse impacts.
- Provide and ensure EH&S training is conducted, assisting as necessary.
- Work comfortably in a manufacturing floor environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years of EH&S regulatory compliance experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- EH&S regulatory and management systems knowledge required.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a union manufacturing environment preferred.
- EH&S experience developing and implementing industry-leading Safety and Health Programs.
- Mentoring and training experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing or related industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience forming, facilitating, and maintaining internal and cross-functional teams and relationships.
- Continuous Improvement experience (e.g., CORE, Six Sigma, LEAN) strongly desired.
- Capable of working with a wide range of people, from site leaders to shop floor, and providing team leadership when required.
- Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH, P.E., or CHMM, strongly desired.
Pay
The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
