About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Implements EHS programs for the evaluation and control of potential hazards including, but not limited to industrial hygiene; fall protection; confined space; lock out tag out; process safety management; hazard assessments; hearing conservation and noise hazards; heat stress; and environmental management.
- Performs a wide range of EHS consultation services, which includes planning, managing, and reporting the results of assessments.
- Provides subject matter expertise in design and test reviews.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at all Headquarters facilities.
- Prepares and submits reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as required.
- Continually updates and ensures compliance with the Blue Origin processes and procedures.
- Indoctrinates new employees on our EHS Program.
- Aids in waste disposal activities including hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste, and recycling materials.
- Contributes to the injury/illness and near miss reporting process.
- Develops, updates, and delivers EHS training.
- Serves as site focal point for safety and environmental issues and concerns.
- Evaluates operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures.
- Supports the development of job hazard analyses and risk assessments.
- Provides EHS related input for building design and operations.
- Performs periodic audits of our Safety Programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety.
- Knowledge and ability to use industrial hygiene tools and monitors.
- Expertise in writing technical reports.
- Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA and State of Washington regulations.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods.
- Knowledge of incident / accident reporting practices, investigations, root cause / corrective action processes.
- Good analytical skills and attention to details, technical writing, with an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information.
- 5+ years total work in EHS.
- 5+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years total work in EHS.
- 7+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry.
- Expertise in Life Safety Code (NFPA 101).
- ASP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification.
