About the Role

This role serves as a technical resource for governmental and company environmental and occupational health & safety (EH&S) requirements. The individual will demonstrate leadership in Environmental Management System (EMS) and corporate Safety Program management, with a clear understanding of their role within business operations. A strong track record in OSHA and EPA compliance, chemical safety, sustainable environmental practices, and injury/illness prevention is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental regulations and internal EH&S policies.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory developments, assess their impact on the company, and implement compliance programs efficiently.
  • Share accountability with management to provide guidance and leadership in identifying opportunities for continuous EH&S performance improvement.
  • Communicate EH&S issues effectively within the organization.
  • Promote and foster a Behavior-Based Safety culture to eliminate “at-risk” behaviors and unsafe conditions.
  • Provide technical environmental expertise, leveraging knowledge of manufacturing and business processes to minimize waste.
  • Apply technology and equipment to control and mitigate air and water pollution.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize EH&S metrics to eliminate risks and support company objectives.
  • Provide EH&S support and expertise at multiple assigned facilities.
  • Coordinate and conduct Safety Assessments and Environmental Audits, ensuring implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge relevant to the position.
  • Develop, plan, organize, and administer EH&S training.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, leadership, strong team skills, a positive attitude, and high integrity.

Requirements

  • College graduate in Environmental and/or Health & Safety fields with 1-3 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in these fields or business in lieu of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge in job-relevant areas, with the ability to work with limited guidance and take initiative.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and project management of intermediate complexity.
  • Understanding of how the EH&S function integrates into manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of chemical safety and engineering practices.
  • Ability to evaluate and communicate EH&S issues to governmental agencies and plant management.
  • Ability to motivate and promote EH&S understanding and culture at all organizational levels.

The salary range for this position is estimated in good faith and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related considerations. The specific offer will fall within the stated range.
