EHS Director

Compensation: $150,000-$160,000 per year

About the role

The EHS Regional Director will provide comprehensive EHS leadership to all departments and employees. This position is responsible for the compliance and administration of a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety program, including systems, policies, procedures, safety campaigns, and programs to eliminate, prevent, or control hazards or at-risk acts or behaviors. The individual will create a culture of safety as a value.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
• Develop and standardize best practices for effective training and communication of EHS topics to employees and managers.
• Ensure the timely development and effective implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and annual individual safety program reviews.
• Serve as the primary leadership role in communicating with the Director of EHS and VP of EHS regarding health and safety issues, as well as the overall assessment of EHS performance and compliance of divisions.
• Conduct compliance audits and inspections as assigned, develop specific audit findings, and verify required follow-up is completed.
• Ensure the safety, health, and environmental impact of new processes and equipment is assessed, and appropriate objectives are formulated.
• Stay current on EHS regulations, accepted standards, and reporting requirements, and evaluate their effect on operations. Participate in periodic audits to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations through internal assessments and inspections for increased self-governance.
• Implement, audit, and continually develop the focus site program to provide measured results to the Director of EHS and VP of EHS and Risk, driving continued improvement within the program.
• Develop, evaluate, and maintain the knowledge center as part of the 4Insite software program.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned based on business needs.
• Regular travel will be required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field from a four-year college or university with 5-8 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work.
• Conduct performance evaluations, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.
• Ensure employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements.
