EH&S Specialist

About the Role

This position is a member of Apache’s Onshore EH&S team, supporting operations within US Onshore Assets and reporting to the EH&S Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist Apache personnel in implementing and maintaining an effective safety program to provide a safe working environment for all employees.
• Work with line management to ensure personnel receive appropriate safety training.
• Participate in accident/incident investigations and case management of injuries/incidents.
• Maintain accurate accident/incident records and prepare reports for management.
• Travel to the field to learn best practices and communicate these to other areas.
• Conduct and participate in reviews, inspections, and audits of contractor operations to improve health and safety performance, focusing on building the safety culture of the team.
• Participate in the incident management process and respond as needed at any time to events.
• Support accident prevention programs.
• Lead in the development and execution of specific health and safety assurance processes.
• Analyze organizational risks and take steps to mitigate potential incidents.
• Monitor and control the organization’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA, State regulations, and Apache policies.
• Maintain professional knowledge of protective equipment and changes in Federal and State safety regulations.
• Develop and conduct employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance material.
• Coordinate contractor oversight training for Apache personnel working with contractors.
• Provide regular on-site field health and safety support, including review of JSAs, work permits, orientations, field audits, and inspections.
• Lead safety meetings as requested.
• Provide EH&S orientations for the area as directed.
• Perform additional tasks and support as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of oil and gas experience required; EH&S experience preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of industry and government EH&S standards and regulations.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently (90%) to field locations.
• Solid problem-solving skills with a focus on results.
• Effective interpersonal and team communication skills.
• Self-motivated team player.
• Intermediate experience in conducting and leading root cause investigations.
• Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.

Physical Requirements

• Climb stairs and ladders, climb over objects or structures, jump horizontally, and walk at speeds up to 4.5 miles per hour.
• Lift and handle objects up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of safely evacuating facilities without physical impediments.
• Ability to adapt to adverse environmental conditions such as extreme cold, heat, and humidity.
