Essential Duties
- Review accidents and incidents, conduct field audits and reporting and oversee EHS corrective actions.
- Cook with Plant Manager, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Department on facility, safety, and personnel training deficiencies through site audits and inspections.
- Support EHS management system through proactive engagement with the EHS program champions.
- Survey employee population to identify safety concerns and implement corrective actions to address.
- Learn and conduct industrial hygiene sampling, reporting, and compliance with the goal of meeting the SGI target of ½ of all allowable limits.
- Ensure that Corporate EHS management practices are embedded in the operation and these management practices are driving the appropriate behavior.
- Identify site-specific circumstances requiring changes to the EHS management system, and enable the successful implementation and sustainability at a local level.
- Utilizing the EHS Enterprise System (Velocity - EHS) - record and analyze accident and incident records and make recommendations regarding corrective actions, emphasizing pro-active intervention.
- Partner with plant leadership and operators, ensuring that the plant is free from risks to the environment, health, and safety.
- Conduct accident investigations, together with site management develop a response to MSHA citations and challenges to citations as warranted.
- Conduct required environmental sampling, reporting and permitting in coordination with the Corporate Environmental Manager.
- Assist with the new employee completion of EHS training for all employees.
- Partner with plant leadership to ensure that accident and incident investigations are conducted in a timely, effective, and thorough manner to determine root cause and prevention measures.
- Conduct all plant visits/tours by government agencies.
- Ensure the findings of accident investigations, safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments are brought to the attention of leadership and others who may be affected.
- Cook with appropriate industry related vendors, internal stakeholders, and SMEs, related to the EHS needs of the organization.
- Cook HS training and records across the plant (Engineering, Maintenance, Admin etc.).
- Support plant leadership on capital project planning to align sustainability efforts with capital and engineering projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Preferably in Occupational Environmental, Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Required Experience with training and auditing 2 years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience (Preferred).
