EH&S Lead

What You Will Do

• Leads EH&S activities including planning, implementing, and managing technical performance to ensure quality and financial objectives are attained.
• Leads EH&S project(s) including project design and schedule to meet objectives.
• Leads the development of short and long-term EH&S objectives and recommends goals to management.
• Ensures and maintains all necessary permits for Environmental and Regulatory Compliance.
• Ensures that appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.
• Leads activities related to EH&S programs and ensures company compliance with any applicable regulations, reviews requirements regarding safety aspects.
• Develops appropriate electronic and hard copy reports and records. May develop new or revise existing electronic or hard copy systems and make internal and external presentations.
• Collaborates with senior and executive management to develop and implement current and annual technical, schedule, quality, and financial objectives for the EH&S program(s) to ensure strategic business objectives are met. May also participate in the development of annual and long-term objectives for the organization.
• Represents the organization as a primary spokesperson with line management, program managers, technical staff, and outside representatives.
• Promotes workplace safety, and assists in the development, maintenance, and management of EH&S programs at the site(s), including proactive incident and illness prevention, respiratory protection, contractor safety, and hazardous chemical management.
• Completes all regulatory reporting requirements (Fire, OSHA, EPA).
• Manages Safety Committee activities, agenda preparation, reports, follow-ups, and incentive programs.
• Manages all different safety programs, conducts training, and manages documentation, including but not limited to: Area Safety Representatives (ASR), Lockout/Tagout, Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), Evacuation Procedures, PPE, Pedestrian Safety, Ergonomics, Heat Stress, Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Compiles, analyzes, maintains, and interprets safety statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents, first aid incidents, and near-miss records; conducts root cause analysis for accident reports; and evaluates injury case studies.
• Manages and performs quarterly safety walks with department managers, safety committees, insurance carriers, or consultants.
• Supports Onboarding and Orientation safety training.
• Provides support for worker's compensation claims including intake, investigation, reporting, and return to work efforts.
• Creates, reviews, and updates environment, health, and safety policies in accordance with local regulations and industry best practices.
• Ensures all construction activities align with these policies and that workers understand their responsibilities under these guidelines.
• Conducts regular site inspections and hazard assessments to identify potential risks, such as unsafe equipment, structural hazards, or environmental threats.
• Develops and implements corrective and preventive measures (e.g., engineering controls, administrative controls, or personal protective equipment) to eliminate or reduce risks.
• Provides ongoing training sessions and toolbox talks on a variety of topics (e.g., proper use of PPE, safe equipment operation, emergency procedures).
• Fosters a safety-first culture by engaging workers, supervisors, and subcontractors in proactive discussions about hazards, near-misses, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Investigates all accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes.
• Monitors and ensures compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to environment, health, and safety.
• Documents findings, prepares incident reports, and develops action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures compliance with applicable legal and company reporting requirements.
• Oversees proper waste management, pollutant control, and hazardous material handling to minimize environmental impact.
• Maintains confidentiality on all issues related to the position.
• Adapts to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situations in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job.
• Coordinates with government agencies, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders to keep permits up to date and maintain compliance documentation.
• May be required to assist in the consolidation and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Travel requirements: rare travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Who You Are

• 10+ years of experience in an EHS role with progressively increasing responsibility
• Work experience in a PSM facility for 7+ years
• Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, chemistry, or environmental science related field
• Knowledgeable on federal, state and local regulations as well as environmental, health and safety best management practices
• Proven track record of building out and implementing EHS programs and processes
• Background in chemical processing, oil & gas, R&D, or similar industrial settings
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results through strong planning, organizing and project or program implementation skills
• Collaborative problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement

Pay

United States Wage Range: $137,280 - $171,600. Please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidate's diverse sets of skill levels.
