Who We Are

TNTP brings research, policy, and consulting together to reimagine America’s public education system. We are a fully remote, national organization of over 600 full-time TNTPers with expertise from a variety of fields, united by the vision to change outcomes for all students. Working collaboratively, we dig into educators’ toughest challenges, and we provide actionable solutions grounded in evidence. This work takes place in schools and districts across the country, and our national position allows us to spot trends, collect and analyze data, and advocate for policy changes that introduce greater impact at scale. We work across sectors and partner with school systems to ensure that the 3.5 million young people who graduate high school every year have pathways to economic and social mobility.

About the Role

Baltimore City Teaching Residency (BCTR) provides career changers and recent college graduates the chance to transform the lives of Baltimore City youth. BCTR is an alternative route to a career in teaching for talented professionals committed to improving the odds for kids by raising student achievement. We are not just any teacher preparation program. We do not just provide a means to earn certification. We prepare teachers to lead thriving, academically demanding classroom communities in which students achieve at high levels. BCTR has trained more than 2,500 teachers for schools in Baltimore since 2002. Our teachers come from many walks of life, but most come from other careers; they are all committed to ending the injustice of educational inequity. BCTR teachers represent 1 in every 10 teachers in Baltimore City Schools and have reached over 380,000 students.
