About the Role

The EEG Technologist performs various neurodiagnostic procedures for patients of all ages, ensuring high-quality data collection and adherence to established guidelines. This role involves coordinating laboratory schedules, providing instruction to healthcare professionals, and contributing to performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform neurodiagnostic procedures, including EEGs, for patients of all ages in outpatient, inpatient, PICU, NICU, PCU, and ICU settings.
  • Assist in establishing and revising recording criteria for technical procedures in collaboration with the Medical Director.
  • Coordinate laboratory schedules and assign priorities based on workload and clinical urgency.
  • Provide instruction on diagnostic procedures to medical residents and other healthcare professionals.
  • Explain testing procedures to patients and families using age-appropriate guidelines.
  • Accurately document patient history, study observations, and troubleshoot equipment or physiological artifacts.
  • Process charges for studies and maintain inventory of lab supplies.
  • Demonstrate proper cleaning and disinfection procedures for patients, rooms, and equipment.
  • Perform routine and long-term video monitoring studies in various clinical settings.
  • Apply knowledge independently to different testing situations and perform equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Suggest cost containment initiatives and prioritize workflow for efficiency.
  • Assess and interpret patient data reflective of age-specific needs and provide care according to departmental policies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (for grandfathered technologists) or Associate's degree or graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain registry within 4 years of hire (grandfathered employees) or within 2-3 years (employees with an Associate's degree or higher).
  • AHA BLS-HCP and PALS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with an aptitude for detailed record-keeping.

Pay

Compensation range: $23.23 - $32.52 per hour. Employee pay is based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. This range does not include benefits or pension plan.
