EEG Tech PRN

About the role

We are seeking a PRN TCD EEG Technician to join Trident Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare. In this role, you will perform various EEG tests, including standard EEG, Electrocerebral Inactivity, Neonatal EEG, and other neurological tests such as Evoked Potentials, and assist in Nerve Conduction Studies. You will work under the direction of the EEG/Cardiopulmonary Director, monitor patients across all age groups, and document observations for physician review.

Responsibilities

• Explain the test to the patient and obtain an accurate and concise patient history.
• Note patient information, including seizure types, date of last seizure, other neurologic symptoms, and medications taken.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with patients, their families, Neuro-Diagnostic staff, laboratory staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
• Interact with Neurologists, other physicians, and staff personnel.
• Measure and apply EEG electrodes accurately and efficiently.
• Calibrate, evaluate, and adjust the EEG instrument to proper technical standards.
• Emphasize sensitivity, time axis, mechanical and electrical baseline to obtain high-quality EEG recordings.
• Record EEG activity using standard montages and label all pertinent machine settings and clinical observations on the EEG tracing.
• Clean electrodes and equipment, and maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work area.
• Change linen for the next patient.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent (preferred).
• Degree from an accredited Electro-Diagnostic Technology program (preferred).
• Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist Certification (preferred).
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification (required).
• 1-3 years of EEG experience (required).
