About the role

This position is responsible for continuous observation of inpatient video and EEG recording, ensuring uninterrupted, clean recordings and reporting changes or abnormalities to clinical staff. You will maintain logs of activity, respond to patient events, and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous observation of inpatient video and EEG recordings to report pertinent changes and abnormalities to clinical staff.
  • Recognize and detect changes in patient recordings, distinguishing artifacts from cortical activity.
  • Alert nursing, physicians, and/or technologist staff when clinical seizures or other paroxysmal events occur.
  • Respond to patient events promptly while maintaining patient safety according to policy and procedure.
  • Accurately document patient information in the recording system, patient logs, and within the EEG recording.
  • Utilize knowledge of monitoring systems and camera control to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues within scope of training.
  • Communicate with patients and/or EEG Technicians to identify and resolve technical issues during studies.
  • Escalate issues to management as appropriate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary staff during shift changes.
  • Manage high patient volumes and ensure prompt resolution of patient issues.
  • Complete hospital training to activate rapid response or cardiac arrest protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
  • Assist Neurodiagnostic Technologists with restocking supplies, electrode removal, regel, and disinfection as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, neurologists, and other technologists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Science-based background or area of study.
  • One year of direct patient care in an epilepsy monitoring unit.

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
