About the role
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking qualified candidates for various Technologist positions. ANTHC is a non-profit Tribal health organization dedicated to serving Alaska Native and American Indian communities. We provide comprehensive healthcare services, including medical care, wellness programs, disease research, and training for rural providers.
Responsibilities
- Performs EEG and EMG NCV under the supervision of Technologists II & III
- Independently perform high quality diagnostic EEGs on both adult and pediatric patients using the EEG system
- Obtain EEG tracings, identify and minimize artifacts
- Visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potential acquisition
- Calm nervous and/or pediatric patients
- Occasional sedation of the patient to obtain a diagnostic quality test
- Schedule EEG tests
- Responsible for patient safety during the exam and must perform CPR and call a code when necessary
- Bring any abnormalities to the attention of the physician
- Operate EMG instrument to measure and record electrical activity in peripheral nerves
- Monitor response and record nerve conduction velocity, time and distance during testing
- Apply and remove electrodes from patients and clean equipment at conclusion of test
- Instruct patients in any pretest preparation required
- Explain test to patient prior to testing
- Obtain written consent when necessary
- Answer any questions the patient may have regarding the test
- Completes all related billing and medical documentation in a timely fashion
- Maintain daily logs of studies performed
- Affirm proper archival of all studies according to local laws
- Retrieves previous studies and makes current studies available for physician interpretation
- Archives studies from the system as needed
Requirements
- Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s)
- Basic skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work with all patient age groups
- Ability to follow established guidelines and procedures
Qualifications
- Technologist I: Non-supervisory – One year work experience
- Technologist II: Non-supervisory – Minimum one (1) year of department experience
- Technologist III: Non-supervisory – Three (3) years’ experience working as a Technologist
Skills
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Electroencephalographic Technologist Certification (within 2 years of hire for Technologist II)
- Electroencephalographic Technologist Certification (required prior to holding this position for Technologist III)
