About the role

We are looking for a founding software engineer and a founding data engineer to join our team. The software engineer will thrive building technology that surfaces new scientific insights, while the data engineer will live at the intersection of data science, software engineering, and machine learning engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize search engines for biological data
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new technologies
• Work closely with data scientists and biologists to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Adapt and rebuild existing tools to meet the unique challenges of biological data

Requirements

• Experience working across the stack in software engineering
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex problems
• Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Experience with distributed systems and large-scale data processing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
• Experience with databases and data storage systems
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms

Skills

• Strong programming skills
• Experience with machine learning and natural language processing
• Understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark or Hadoop
