Educational Support Professional

About the Role

The Education Support Professional supports and carries out instruction designed by general and special educators to meet the individual needs of students with or without disabilities in a calm and non-reactionary manner. This role is directly involved in assisting the educator to achieve student success, including work with students on IEP goals, monitoring and documenting student progress, and regular communication with classroom teachers and/or service providers.

Responsibilities

• Support and assist students with physical, academic, and/or behavioral needs.
• Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans.
• Manage aggressive behaviors, apply behavior de-escalation and safety skills, and apply programmatic safety training skills as needed (e.g., CPI/Safety Care).
• Provide specialized learning techniques and/or applied behavioral activities tailored to individual student support/instruction.
• Monitor student progress, collect and document academic and/or behavioral data.
• Implement verbal and visual supports for students, model appropriate tasks, skills, and behaviors.
• Accompany students throughout the day, including classes, services, recess, lunch, and other required times (based on IEP or 504 requirements).
• Support classroom teachers with duties as necessary.
• Facilitate collaboration and communication between classroom teachers and special education liaisons regarding student needs.
• Participate in job-related training.
• Assist and supervise students during lunch.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
