About the role
Mohawk Valley Community College is seeking an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Learning Specialist to support EOP students in enhancing study skills, academic strategies, organization, and time management. The role involves working individually and in small groups, facilitating weekly study sessions, and developing academic success programming.
Responsibilities
- Administer self-assessments and develop time management plans and individualized study plans.
- Develop and deliver academic success programming for students.
- Support students who need additional help or are not meeting academic expectations through individual and group meetings.
- Assess student progress and report to the Director.
- Facilitate study sessions.
- Collaborate with EOP staff to develop academic skills workshops.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
Schedule
- Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM with occasional evenings and weekends.
- 25 hours per week.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Development, Sociology, Education, or a related field.
- One (1) year of experience delivering academic support services.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- One (1) year of teaching experience.
- Experience engaging a diverse population in the learning process.
Pay
$23.00 – $25.00 per hour.
