About the role

The Educational Diagnostician works with the Special Programs team, regional leaders, campus leaders, parents, and Special Education and General Education teachers in an effort to maximize student outcomes. The role involves supporting special education teachers in developing appropriate IEP academic, behavioral, and social goals, ensuring compliance with Special Education legislation, and providing guidance on academic and behavioral interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the special education teachers in developing appropriate IEP academic, behavioral, and social goals.
  • Meet 100% compliance in Annual ARDs and ensure all paperwork is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Works in conjunction with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other related and Instructional Service Personnel (VI, AI, APE, PT) to ensure completion of all ARD paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Fulfills the role of campus Educational Diagnostician, conducting full and individual evaluations, and providing guidance on academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Supports 504 campus coordinators with manifestation determinations, 504 meeting requirements, 504 eligibility determination, Homebound, and Manifestation Determination.
  • Conducts dyslexia evaluations for 504 students.
  • Guides campuses in tracking and documenting academic and behavioral interventions in TIER I, TIER II, and TIER III.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary evaluations for non-Speech only students, non-Autism, and non-Emergency Disturbance students who are referred for 1 or more eligibility categories.
  • Ensures adherence to evaluation tools and standards as stipulated by the American Psychological Association.
  • Helps campuses conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans in Response to Intervention.
  • Provides guidance on academic and behavioral interventions in Tier II and Tier III.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate required.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a campus Educational Diagnostician preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or scaffolding, or climb and work in overhead areas.
  • Must be able to work in a confined space or to crawl or move about on hands and knees.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 20 pounds (regularly/occasionally).

Skills

  • Knowledge of assessment and eligibility for Special Education.
  • Understanding of state and federal legal frameworks for Special Education.
  • Compliance with Special Education legislation.
  • Problem-solving skills in academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to conduct evaluations and provide guidance on interventions.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits include salaries ranging from $70,500 to $82,100, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications, and in alignment with internal equity. Performance pay is also available based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
