Cumberland Valley School District is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA) III for the 2026-2027 school year, with a schedule of 7.5 work hours per day and a starting wage of $20.60/hr.

About the Role

The EA III position is tailored to the Emotional Support program, focusing on aligning educational strategies, support services, and student development with the unique needs, backgrounds, and learning styles of students. The primary assignment will be in an autistic or emotional support classroom. Priority will be given to candidates with direct experience in these settings.

The EA III plays a vital role in fostering a supportive and effective learning environment, working closely with classroom teachers and district staff to provide instructional support, manage classroom/building activities, and assist with educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of educational strategies and programs for students in the Emotional Support program.
  • Assist classroom teachers and district employees with instructional support and classroom/building activities.
  • Work interactively with students and staff to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Support students with cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those learning a second language.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (required).
  • Two-year Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred) or the ability to pass a highly-qualified assessment.
  • Direct experience in an autistic or emotional support classroom (highly desired).
  • Personal knowledge or work experience with school-aged children and children with disabilities (highly sought).
  • Experience supporting program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system (highly desired).
  • Fluency in English (required); multilingual abilities (a plus).
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, stretch, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges.
  • Completion of twenty (20) hours of annual training to maintain Highly Qualified Status.

Clearances

If hired, the applicant must submit the following (all less than one year old unless otherwise noted):

  • Criminal Record Check.
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
  • TB Test/Mantoux (less than 3 months old).
  • Physical examination (if applicable).

Pay

Starting wage of $20.60 per hour for the 2026-2027 school year.

Schedule

7.5 work hours per day.
