About the role

The Educational Aide provides administrative support to faculty, staff, and students within Information Technology Education at the Blount Center. This position maintains the ITE Open Lab, assists students and faculty, ensures a clean and functional work environment, and enforces lab use policies. This role is not a tutoring position but involves guiding students within the aide’s scope of expertise.

This is a part-time, flexible position with hours scheduled Monday through Friday, potentially changing each semester based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere by greeting, responding to, and directing visitors in-person and over the phone.
  • Check lab equipment in/out and ensure kits are complete.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional lab environment.
  • Distribute mail and office supplies, and operate/maintain copier/printer as needed.
  • Accept, screen, and route telephone calls concerning office activities and operations, directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Provide administrative support to faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with desktop operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux).
  • Apply working knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP, C++, Python, SQL, Java, and/or JavaScript.
  • Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information in compliance with state, federal, and college regulations (e.g., FERPA).
  • Comply with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws governing public employees.
  • Deliver service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled Santa Fe College student in good academic standing, taking six (6) or more credit hours.
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA.
  • A criminal background check will be conducted.
