Available shift: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 1:30pm - 4:00pm
Shift Differential for Advocate Positions: $1 from 4p to midnight and $2 from midnight to 8a.
Description
To provide educational instruction for the Domestic Violence Center, Domestic Violence Housing Program, and/or Children’s Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Services: Provide a safe, structured, educational environment in a therapeutic setting. Help plan and facilitate educational activities for youth and families residing at the Domestic Violence Center, Children’s Center or Domestic Violence Housing Program. Assist in providing support and advocacy to clients as needed. Coordinate with the school of origin of emergency shelter residents to obtain transportation, or at a minimum, the client’s homework to ensure that the youth has the opportunity to stay caught up in school. Organize and supervise educational field trips. Collaborate with schools to best serve clients. Document client information in Progress Notes. Complete the Learning Center summary on each youth following discharge and put in the client's file. Facilitate lesson plans developed by the Curriculum Specialist.
General Operation: Provide support in youth development activities. Coordinate client/volunteer interaction and activities. Ensure that the Learning Center is clean, orderly, and ready for clients. Serve as the liaison between Synergy’s Emergency Shelter’s and the School District of residents as needed. Communicate concerns regarding volunteers to appropriate staff.
Participation in the Performance and Quality Improvement activity is required by each employee. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: Associates degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. BS in Education or Social Service related field preferred.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Teaching Certificate, Medication Technician Certification, CPR/First Aid certification, and a valid Class E Drivers license.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Age: Must be at least 20 years of age.
Background Check and Family Care Safety Registry Screening: Pass a background check and Family Care Safety Registry screening.
Fingerprint Screen: Fingerprint screen.
Drug Screen: Drug screen.
Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance: Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
CPR, Med Tech Certification, and Chauffeur’s License: CPR, Med Tech Certification, and Chauffeur’s License within 30 days from the date of hire.
